I AM A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN AND FIRM BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST.
FROM THE AGE OF …OH…8 ON INTO MY EARLY TEENS, BEFORE SPORTS AND GIRLS TOOK OVER, I WOULD DRAW, PAINT, BUILD MODELS AND OTHER THINGS.
ONCE I GOT INTO MY LATER TEENS I CEASED MOST OF THE DRAWING AND PAINTING AND DIDN’T PICK IT BACK UP TIL ONE FATEFUL DAY WHEN I WAS 50 YEARS OLD AND WAS GIVEN A 1 YEAR SENTENCE INTO A KEY WEST FLORIDA JAIL.
YES, JAIL! I MADE A MISTAKE AND HAD TO SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES.
BUT IN HINDSIGHT IT WAS A BLESSING! WHY YOU MIGHT ASK ? THAT WOULD BE A GREAT QUESTION.
IF YOU ASK ANYBODY THAT HAS BEEN TO JAIL THEY WILL TELL YOU ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT ASPECTS OF BEING INCARCERATED IS DEALING WITH ‘BOREDOM’. TIME MANAGEMENT.
I HAVEN’T HAD AN EASY LIFE. MORE TRAUMAS THEN SOME LESS THAN MANY…BUT DEFINITELY A HARD LIFE. DISEASES, AND MANY TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS IN MY PROFESSIONAL CAREERS. STARTED OVER 3 TIMES OVER 40 YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT.
BACK TO MY REASONING AS TO WHY MY JAIL SENTENCE WAS A BLESSING; GOD PUT ME THERE FOR A REASON.
As I said, I was a creative child and young adult in as much as creating visual art. I also was gifted with musical talents and the ability to build and /or repair lots of things. But I married when I was 23 had 3 children and entered into my first “Career”…oh I had many jobs prior but they were not careers. For 25 years thereafter from my age of 23 – 50 creating ART was NON–EXISTENT. That is until I went to Jail and due to the boredom and due to GOD’S direction which caused me to start drawing again.
The irony of this is that I had to go to jail to realize that I was always an visual artist, but just hadn’t employed my talents til that point. I came out of jail with over 300 drawings and have kept drawing and painting as much as my time allows since then.
SO>>>>THERE YOU HAVE IT> MAN GOES TO JAIL TO FIND HIS REASON TO BE>ONE OF THEM AT LEAST!
